Everyone who helps renovate Chateau Duffy will get the opportunity to stay in it. One working holiday now earns you the opportunity for more relaxed, traditional holidaying later. Plus we have a lot of fun along the way…
For a start, you’re in France – where the food and wine are fabulous. Think of a range of cheeses and meats; local dishes; fresh croissants every morning; and of course French wine. Then combine with the fact that you’re doing a huge amount of physical work every day and there’s no holiday food guilt!
Chateau Duffy is one of the oldest buildings in the village of St Denis des Murs. The locals love that we’re restoring a home right in the centre of the village and pop round to visit regularly. This is rural France at its greatest!
Most importantly, these trips aren’t just about building a physical structure, they’re about building a community. The bonds forged on the building site are strong ones and cross continents. It’s been a place of refuge for many, somewhere to escape the pressures of life at home and invest energy in something tangible. For others it’s simply been a change of scenery and an opportunity to share work with a whole variety of people.
The Chateau Duffy teams have included Americans and Brits; web designers; builders; project managers; fashion designers; architects; teachers; police officers; furniture designers; and even vicars. Everyone’s skills are valued.
Sure, you get a nice place to have a vacation after all the hard work, but without a doubt, what those of us who have been involved have valued most has been the community we’ve built alongside the house.
